Grant Piercy
Grant Piercy is the author of science fiction and surrealist works such as The Erased Saga, I Am Mercury, and Galahad. These books explore identity, parallel realities, and transcendence. He has a fondness for asking fundamental questions of self — who are we? why are we here? what makes us who we are? — in terrifying and complex ways.
Grant is an avid fan of certain pop culture elements that remain on the fringe - Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, and David Lynch chief among them. He draws particular inspiration from the work of Lynch, as well as authors such as Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, and Philip K. Dick. He’s also a family man, which one might derive from analysis of his work.
Originally from north central Illinois, he studied English and literature at Northern Illinois University. Upon graduation, he relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where he still resides.
In 2012, he published his first novel, The Erased, after laboring for many years on various manuscripts. Choosing to self-publish due to recent technological innovations and a penchant for the DIY aesthetic, he continued to publish works with the I Am Mercury series, later compiled into an omnibus, and sequels to The Erased - Agent of Truth and Delusion of Self.
Newly a father during the pandemic era, he dug up an old essay written during his time at Northern that became the basis for Galahad, inspired by and dedicated to his newborn. That also leads to another entry in his “Existential Arthurian Legend” duology, Mordred.
