Star and Shadow

Some say the world was burned into being. The earth and the night sky forged in a furnace that seemed to last forever but may have only been a day—no one can say for certain. Only two lived in the afterbirth, the shadow in the white robe and the star cloaked in night. To look upon the star’s face beneath her hooded cloak is to witness that cauldron beyond all things, and to see the shadow in the white robe is to know death.
— Grant Piercy, STAR AND SHADOW

A mysterious traveler arrives at an inn where a young boy lays ill. The traveler attempts to help the boy by telling him of the creation of their world and the dawn of civilization at the hands of two powerful gods, the Star Cloaked in Night and the Shadow in the White Robe. But just who is the traveler, and what is he trying to impart?
